I am a writer. I am a private English teacher, tutor, translator and proofreader. Up until 12 months ago I had a day job to keep food in the fridge and to help my kids with their college tuition and driving lessons, etc.  Oh, and the house mortgage…Once I passed the half century mark, I was put out to pasture, so to speak. But I am much like a Timex watch : I take a linking, but keep on ticking. It is enthralling to be free from the corporate cesspool.

Writing is not spitting against the wind. It is the beating heart and the breathing lungs and the ear that revels in music.  I decided to create this blog and not hide the words I would like to share in a private “Dear Diary”. Also, the idea of being a productive community member of the written word fills me with awe and encouragement.

I write about personal freedom and change in my works of fiction. And of love and loss. My characters are people, who have reached the half-way point of their lives and wonder “Could I have done it better?” “Where have all the years gone?”
The adventures toward attaining their “impossible” dreams serve to encourage and validate later life choices.

The title of my blog, though quite self-explanatory, is actually my personal Declaration of Independence. I am a fan of Wonder Woman and murder mysteries. I am nuts about Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn, Scarlatti and Cowboy Junkies.

Originally from Michigan, the beautiful peninsula, I have lived in the tiny country of Luxembourg for half of my life

Thank you for visiting.

If you like photo albums, I invite you to peruse my photo-blog. Not much text, such the sights I have seen.

All the Best,

  1. Hi Yvonne,
I was clicking away at the Daily Prompts and now I’m here. I have a blog just for fun because I wanted to share stories with my family and friends. Been to Luxembourg many times, taking our guests, normally family members. So glad to find another fellow ‘European’. Till then.

    1. Hi Jenn, thanks for your comment. I apologize for my delay in thanking you. Nice to know that Luxembourg has other fans out in the world. Indeed! It is a picture book place to show off to visiting friends and relatives. Despite the 25 years I have called this city home, I find new aspects to appreciate on a regular basis.
Cheers and Thank you for your visit.

  2. Writing…” is the beating heart and the breathing lungs and the ear that revels in music”. Beautiful. Seems like we have a lot in common being over the half century and out of the rat race! Thanks for the follow – I like what I’m seeing at your place too 🙂

I look forward to getting to know you more from your posts. I am inspired by your lines “Write..no matter what” because I know, words are like loaded pistols, they are powerful. By the way, take it as a compliment that I find this Blog , Beautiful.

    1. Hi Christina,
Well, you are most welcome. Your sincere sentiments have touched me. Thank you. Amateur, or not (btw, so am I !) there is a very genuine tone to your writing. This shines through which makes your contributions so engaging. I’ll let you in on a secret. This afternoon I was beside myself with an awful headache and it just would not go away. So, I thought that I would reply to some emails when I saw your blog alert. I clicked and began reading. I got pulled in and after two hours my headache was completely gone! Thank you!
I also believe in “less being more”.
I look forward to your future posts
      All the Best,
